Epic Megagames did a good job publishing Zone 66. In similar games like Bomber and Island Hopper you could only fly in one direction. In Zone 66 it is possible to turn your aircraft and to fly back.
The object in this game is to fly around and to shoot the enemies on the ground and in the air. The enemies on the ground are well defended and they will try to kill you.
Same with the enemies in the air, they are shooting all the time at you. Shoot them before they shoot you, or try to escape.

The game, released in the early nineties, is played with a top down perspective. The game feels like a flight simulator game and the controls need a little bit of getting used to.
In the game, set in a futuristic setting, the countries in the world are no longer independent countries but simply sub-states with only a small amount of autonomy. The United Nations is now called the World Council, and the World Council is what makes most of the decisions for the concerns of the different sub-states. It is now considered the world’s government. But centralizing the world’s government does not really result in peace and order in the world. Instead war and riots still erupt in various places all around the world because of the people’s detachment from the ruling agency. Just like before the World Council was established there continues lots of conflicts all around the world with terrorist and organized crime groups gaining much support. Because of the chaos, the World Council decided to create the Global Security Agency (GSA) which is meant to rid of the world’s violent factions and the chaos that they create.
You will play the role of a former GSA pilot who has vowed never to serve the GSA or any other agencies that will have him taking innocent lives as was his experience when he worked for the GSA. But then when his hometown is destroyed by a nuclear warhead and he loses his wife and kids, he decides to take revenge on whoever caused the destruction of his hometown. You will now have to go and fly and aircraft and exact your revenge. Your goal will to blow up the enemy structures and all their aircrafts and bases. You will be equipped with a map to help you find enemy structures. You can fly anywhere just as long as the area covered is still part of the mission. Your aircraft will also have limited fuel supply so you will need to land in friendly territories to re-fuel.
The graphics and the sounds of the game are really good and so is the game’s plot. Game play is pretty solid but it is very difficult.
