Super Solvers - Operation Neptune

Operation Neptune was the first game I ever played as a kid. Of course, other Super Solvers titles came later, but ON was always my top fav. Our poor little Tandy had some problems playing it.in order to even access it to play it, you had to load up Midnight Rescue first, or the computer would freeze :)
The variety of the levels was always interesting to me, as well as the sea creatures that are in this game.

I think my love from the sea (as silly as that may sound) stems from this game. I was always running to get my mom to ask her what various creatures were, and then going to the library to get books on them to learn more. This game certainly teaches a passion for more than just math. (Oh, and the music was awesome) The math part was fun too. Using math in real life situations made me appreciate it when I was younger. Kids tend to hate math, because much of it is abstract, but having seen that it had really cool and practical applications really made me realize how important math was, and thus start to love it.
The barnacle population fractions and the unlocking the Master Lock in the end of each level were my favorite scenarios Another part that I really liked about the game, was the fact that you were allowed multiple chances to get hit, and also multiple changes to answer questions. The fact that if you got questions right you would get life back always made me really want to have a question that I could answer pop up. Zoom the dolphin, an oxygen carrying dolphin, could be difficult to catch, but if you caught him, he filled your life bar to the max.
The story line in this game highlights an expedition to mars, where they meet some kind of aliens. Reading this, in addition to the awesome game play, was fun by itself. If I picked up a capsule, and couldn’t answer the math question, I’d be frustrated, because I was always really exited to find out what happened next. Operation Neptune is definitely a fantastic game. It makes learning fun, not only about math, but about sea creatures, ocean habitats, and even currents.
