Raiden 2 which is published by fabtek, is a sequel to the arcade game Raiden. This game was pretty great due to some addition add-ons since the first Raiden.
It’s a top scroller just like the first, but I feel the graphics run a little smoother for what time the game came out. There was also an addition of some new weapons. I found the 8 levels to be a little too much of the same thing over and over again, but the original was on Atari so really there is no complaints on that end.
If you are a fan or just a lover of classic games I’m sure you will love Raiden II. If you aren’t a fan I wouldn’t waste your time. Unless you want to.

Raiden II is a fun game where you start off flying your aircraft off an airship to battle other aircraft and tanks. It is a wonderful game that tests your eye hand coordination by dodging other aircraft and what they shoot at you. The music is pretty cool as well. It seems to help you get into the game, and help you focus. The music is kind of like the music from golden axe one and golden axe two from the Sega Genesis console.
The game play of this game is similar to space invaders or any of the other aircraft or flying games of this time. In the game, the player has a small square of air to maneuver the aircraft and dodge and fire on the enemy aircraft. Flying forward and backwards to grab upgrades, or miss that enemy fire at the last moment.
When you start the game you have 3 other lives in case you are shot down or crash into another aircraft. You also have to shoot at enemy tanks on the ground. As you play through the level, you can gain upgrades to you aircraft. You can get missiles, extra bullets, extra points, and strengthen your attack. At the end of the level, if you are still alive, you have to battle a massive boss or bosses to pass the level. At the end of the first level, the bosses seemed like huge crab like tanks that are shooting at many different angles. Make sure not to get shot down at this point, or you have to finish the level with a new plane and your attack starts at the beginning level. If you manage to defeat these massive tanks, you clear level one. You receive medals and bonus points for how well you did during your assault on this enemy army.
The graphics on this game are pretty good as well. They have just the right amount of color and detail to be pulled into this world of danger. Games like this have their own special charm, as the newer games of today just can not match. I remember playing this game every time I came into my dentist. I would kind of get tunnel vision towards walking over to it, and playing it for as long as I could. It is games like this that have good character and overall game play that keeps them in your mind over the years. Check out the you tube videos of the game as they show you how the game is to be played. I definitely recommend playing on this game if you have not, and catch up on all you have missed.
