I used to play Treasure Cove all the time. I lived in Hawaii and I was really into snorkeling at the time, so this game was right up my alley. Even now I can parallel his snorkeling skills to mine, as I have continued to be an avid snorkeler thanks in part to this game. Sadly, at some point Windows was made incapable with XP to run such old DOS games so I thought this game was lost forever.
Then I found it on this website and I remembered the vivid colors and the cool snorkeler dude, of course called the Super Seeker. This was definitely my favorite game because me and my mother used to play it all the time.
I remember battling the Goobies, those little oil spots, in super side scrolling action. Somehow they were captured in a very advanced technology bubble gun. It’s so advanced I can’t think of any other game that uses it. Of course, you have to battle the Master of Mischief, just like the other games in the series. That Master of Mischief caused so much trouble!
It starts off with the Master of Mischief destroying Rainbow Bridge and all of its pieces being scattered into the ocean. This is where our hero comes in, in search of the missing pieces. I also remember the starfish that floated around and helped you out by giving you things. I believe they helped you refill your flashlight and gave you clues on how to do stuff.
Of course, this is an educational game and there was a variety of mathematical hoops to jump through as you travel through the levels. I especially loved Treasure Mountain which is a similar game to this one and worth looking up as well. I beat both games like ten times. Maybe that’s how I started out with my whole ecology thing, due to this game. Back in the day this game was so advanced compared to anything else I had, because it was my first game after I stopped using an Apple II. I remember marveling at the variety of sea life floating around not related to the story line. My mother never let me play any video games because she thought I would never do homework or a console because it took up the TV. The Super Seeker games, as well as Reading Rabbit, Math Blaster, and the Schoolhouse Rock games are all I had. I am surely glad this game was one of them.
