I've played (and beaten) all 5 Quest for Glory games, and I have to say, I think this one is the best of them all.
Story - Shortly after your victory in Quest for Glory 3, you're snatched away by a teleport spell, and end up alone and (nearly) possession less in a dark cave with no idea where you are. You were pulled to this land by a pair of vampires intent on using you to achieve their goals (one of these vampires is an old foe, back for revenge).

Graphics - For the time it was released (~1994) these graphics were really great. You could tell what everything was very easily, everything looked good, and there was a lot of detail, both in the backgrounds, and in the characters. Generally the graphics fitted the theme of the area, the Mad Doctor's area was strange and hi tech, the monastery was creepy, etc.
Sound - The sound was about average with other games from that time. The music did a pretty good job building the mood, and years later I still remember some of the tunes. Sound effects were generally acceptable, but nothing really spectacular. The voice acting was very good, the accents were great, and it just really seemed to fit the characters.
Controls - The controls were pretty easy to use and responsive. It's mostly point and click, which is such an improvement over the old parser system. The only place I have a complaint with the controls would be in combat (see below).
Good - You've got the 4 classes to choose from (warrior, mage, thief, and paladin), the ability to import your characters from previous games, different side quest for each class, an interesting storyline, and unforgettable characters. There're little humorous jokes everywhere, just about everyone has something they say that's interesting, funny, or advances the plot.
Bad – Bugs, bugs, bugs. There were a lot of them in this game, and even more if you did something kinda strange like giving your character skills from another class, the game seems to get confused sometimes about what quests and stuff it should activate if you spend points to give your mage thief skills (for example). In the CD version, they added a couple more bugs that can (if unlucky) make the game unbeatable. The controls for combat are kind of confusing and unresponsive, and the game manuals don't really clarify how they work. I ended up generally setting it on auto combat and hoping I lived.
There're also a couple of places where things can happen that make the game unbeatable. For instance, if you burn down the monastery before you've gotten the Dark One Ritual (and rescued the domovoi) then you can't collect them all to finish the game.
Overall - Overall, despite some frustrating problems (bugs and poor combat control mainly), this is a game that I enjoyed and it kept my attention for years. I still go back and play it whenever I get the chance. The characters are memorable, the game is fun to play, the music is good, and the quest is worthy of a hero. Oh yeah, there is a lot of garlic in the game, it's in the food and it's strung around the rooms. Of course, it makes sense though. Two of the villagers are garlic farmers, and the town is beset by vampires and werewolves, garlic is one of the things to keep both of them away.
