The Oddoworld: Abe’s Exodus is the sequel to the game Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysey.
The story of the game picks up from where the first game left off. Abe, the game’s hero is in an awarding ceremony where his bravery will be recognized. He is on top of a small cliff and below him are his Mukudon friends that he saved in the first game. When the head of the Mukodon tribe pats him on the back for his valiant efforts he rolls down the cliff and becomes unconscious. While unconscious, he has a dream where his ancestors tell him how the evil Glukkons are forcing blind Mukudons to work in mines. The blind tribesmen are mining the Mukudon’s ancestor’s bones. These bones are one of the ingredients for the Glukkon soft drink “Soulstorm Brew”.
Because of this dream, Abe and his friends go to their ancestor’s burial grounds at Necrum. He gets separated from his friends but he still has to work at saving hundreds of the Mukudons that are working in the mines. Your goal is to shut down the brewery.
This game is incredibly fun because it combines a number of elements that from different game genres. It is a mixture of adventure, puzzle and action game. You will need to lead some Mukudons toward the exit but not all of them are cooperative. There are blind mukodons who can’t easily follow you. There are those that for one reason or another get angry or depressed. The Mukudons have different temperaments so you need to deal with them differently. This factor definitely adds more fun to the game. You may apologize to the Mukudons, slap them or gently coerce them into following you. You can also pray for them so that they will come under your spell and follow you. The thing is while you are dealing with the different personalities of the Mukudon, you are also dealing with enemies and other obstacles in the mine.
The graphics was pretty well made for a game that was released during the 90s. It was not in 3D but the game featured enough details and showed a rich environment that really makes you engaged to the game.
The controls take a bit of getting used to especially since there are a number of buttons you could use in the game. But just 30 minutes into the game and I’m sure you’ll find the controls manageable and smooth.
I highly recommend this game, because it is quite unique and very fun to play. Download Oddword - Abe Exoddus - oddworld:_abe's_exoddus.zip
