If you've ever played Connect Four, this game will look familiar. The object is to get 4 of your color in a row, horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. You play against the computer. Unlike most Connect Four games, this has some extra options that allow you to customize the game quite a bit (like even having a game like Connect Five).
Download this if you like a customizable Connect Four style game.
Reviewer: dpculbertson85 A true gamer enjoys the classics. As an avid player of video games, I was excited to see one of the relics of CPU programming with the addition of You Lose to the DOS Games Online database. It is a computer game version of the ever-famous board game Connect Four. Its simple graphics afford the player with a user-friendly application that stimulates the mind. With its basic layout, players of You Lose are not distracted by additional graphics that often take away from the purpose and focus of the game. It is one of the first video games that utilizes an AI algorithm that presents a challenge for a single player. However, the game can also be played two player, which made it one of the more popular games as the viral establishment of arcades occurred across the country. The graphics and sounds for the game are not too appealing because of the limited technology of audio adaptation during its creation. Audio and imaging files require a boat load of memory; therefore, the efforts of the engineers aimed towards the CPU creation rather than the graphics and sound development. As a result, You Lose is more intellectually stimulating rather than aesthetically pleasing. It is one of the first games that we would call today a time killer, in that the function of the game is to spend one's time playing it against a computer mind or other player, and yet no gains come from the time except stimulation. That is why although it is fascinating technology for the time period, its popularity would not be matched in this day and age with the options for other systems and examples of video gaming procrastination. It is just not as appealing as the various games that now exist, with the intellectual stimulation coupled with amusing audio and aesthetic visuals. It would simply not survive on something like Addicting Games or any other similar web site that hosts games that allow for procrastinators to kill their days. However, it helps to throw on a mix from iTunes or Rhapsody, while cutting the sound to You Lose, and playing it with that in the background. It steals from the monotony that comes with extended play of the game. I hope this review helps in your consideration of the game! It truly is a good one, and a faithful conversion of the game that inspired it, as well. Download You Loose (youloose.zip)
