While it may look cute and childish, this game offers much more than that. Troy, cutesy graphics aside, is a hardcore test of your smarts and reflexes as you navigate Troy the dragon/dinosaur through the brick mazes. It's all about jumping, walking/running, and shooting at precise moments. Your job is to grab all the gold bars, once you touch the last set of bars, you go on to the next level.
Hazards like squid and cannons are out to destroy you as you try to get the gold bars.

Worth a download if you need a game that gets your brain working.

Troy is an extremely simple DOS game made in 1996. You are what looks like a green dinosaur with red spikes across your back and your mission is to collect the “gold nuggets” across the maps of each level in order to advance further into the game. To do this you jump from place to place and shoot lasers out of your mouth at any enemies in your way.

With that out of the way, it can be said that that is all the game is. There is no saving in the game, and no going back to an old game. If you play through up to a certain level and then choose to quit at that point, you cannot return to your game; you will have to start all over again on level one. There is some satisfaction in completing each level. You spend your time collecting the gold nuggets, and when you are done they give you the option of going to the next level or quitting. There are no points in the game and there is no timer for hope of completing it with a faster time. Other than seeing the next level number appear on your screen, or possibly discovering a new type of bad guy ranging from the octopus, spiders and what appears to be a spiky butterfly to the sinks and cannons. Basically, the motivation is to see how far you can get.

The concept of the game is more than a little strange as well. You seem to be born on each level as you hatch out of an egg at the beginning of each. Whether this means you are a different dinosaur being born into a different world each time you advance to a new level, or if you somehow get back into your egg and roll off to a new level after you collect the gold is well beyond me. Another oddity is the question of why can this dinosaurs shoot lasers out of his mouth? With that, why can the other animals shoot lasers as well? And why are the octopuses on land? It is weird, but kind of fun.

It is fun to play through once or twice when you are bored, but make sure you have enough time to go as far as you want to go, since there are no saves. When you complete each level there is a bit of excitement in discovering what might come next. Along with this some sufficient challenges are given to the player in beating each level. One might have to experiment with different methods in order to beat a level.
