This is a fairly simple tank game, drive your tank around, shoot other tanks, not much else to it. Has first person point of view with primitive 3-D graphics. I believe that this is a clone of an old Atari game called BattleZone.
This game might be useful for a quick time-killer, don't expect anything special or amazing.
Reviewer: crashbang I was playing this when I was eight years old, when I was going outside, playing football and other silly things like that. Even today, the game still appeals compared to other more advanced gamed graphics wise. The reason for this is simple - it takes a realistic tank battle apparoach, and keeps it that way. There's no blasting tanks to death from ten metres in front of them where you should be exposed - there's no city to try and drive around to get to your prey, getting caught on a lamp post or a hobo on the way. This is a simple tank game - dodge, aim well or die.
The premise is simple, yet effective - destroy the enemy tanks, try and dodge the shells fired back. There's nothing like simplicity is there? On one side of the spectrum you have your final fantasy 12 and your football managers, and on the other side you have this game. For me, the first two win out, but only just. This game can keep you busy for hours and hours on end, and for that it deserved commendation. Firing is crisp, movement is smooth. Strategic thinking is required to escape nets of tanks and try to establish your own position to make a brief stand, before again you must move on. It is a game of hit and run - fire and dodge away, trying to eventually polish the enemy off using your superior tank commanding skills
On the other hand, this game is similarly flawed in this simplicity. While it may be entertaining for a while, the variety is a bare thing. The tanks only increase in toughness and power - there is nothing but that simple green battle field, nothing but those same tanks, same bullets to dodge, over and over again. By the time you stop playing it, it is such a game that you wont regret stopping playing it. Much like a recent game Shadow of the Collosus, it is entertaining, but only as long as the game is. There is no room for experimenting or any ability to, no secrets to unlock and most certainly no room for any tactics beyond those dictated by the game. Charge and youll die.
In the end the game is limited by its generation. If you were to make the game now I'm sure that it would have more of the tools required to be a truely great game. Untill then I would recommend this game, but only for a short palying time. Think of it as a great lunchtime time killer. Download TZone (tzone.zip)
