This game is a Wheel of Fortune clone, the game where you spin the wheel and guess letters for money. Game concept is little or no different from the popular TV game show.
Has decent layout and interface, although the PC Speaker sound can be annoying (at least you can turn it off). Graphics are somewhat bland.
If you like Wheel of Fortune and/or Hangman, this game is worth a download.
Reviewer: Bluescreen_ODeff VGAWHEEL is a game based upon the popular TV game show Wheel of Fortune. Many of the basic elements are in this game, such as spinning the wheel, buying a vowel, and solving the puzzle. There are many puzzles in this game, which if you don't mind the text-based graphics, you'll be entertained for a long time.
When you start the game, you should see a blank screen with information asking you how many rounds you would like to play, and with how many players. These are common features to any Wheel of Fortune game, like most games of the kind. With the number of players, you can even play by yourself, but it hardly is a challenge at all, since the worst that could happen to you is hit a Bankrupt after scoring a bunch. However, if you like to see how well you do and test yourself, the solo game is a great idea.
As for computer players, I'm not sure if they had any computer players the last time I played it.
Speaking of the graphics, they are text-based, and if you're a fan of the more graphical computer games, you may not like this game. One plus about the graphics is the basic colour scheme on the positions, red, yellow, and blue, just like on the original show before the video wall showed up. The same goes with the green background. This colour is best for these kinds of games because of it's gaming nature. Now as for the sound; yes, the sound may only come from the PC speakers, but it may be because of the very simplicity of the game. Fortunately, it can be turned off.
As for the gameplay, it's the basic Wheel of Fortune game, and it's simplicity makes it a plus for those who just want to have a quickie challenge. The common categories present in 1991 make an appearance also, which adds a little bit to the Wheel Experience.
Now, the game itself may crash sometimes (it's happened to me a few times), but that's the worst that it does. Just restart the program and it should be fine. I'm not sure if there's a bug in the program, but it does nothing to the computer; it may be just my own experience.
All in all, it's a great game to play if you're not into fancy graphics and are heavy on gameplay. It's especially a great game for game show fans who would like to solve the puzzle! Download VGAWHEEL (vgawheel.zip)
