This is quite similar to normal Pong, except that there are weapons involved. The players, in addition to trying to get the ball past each other, now try to shoot each other's paddles with missiles and bullets to win. Graphics are way more modern than other Pong games. However, the controls can be somewhat stiff and slightly awkward.

Only download this if you are curious about what it would be like if Pong paddles shoot missiles and bullets at each other.

Pong: Battle Royal is a game that any die-hard pong fans will appreciate, and anyone who has ever played a more retro-style game will undoubtedly recognize. Go out and ask anyone on the street and nearly all of them can describe the premise of Pong to you; “a boring game of ping-pong” is an answer you will most likely hear, but some will recognize the ingeniousness of the concept, and its simple addicting qualities.
Pong: Battle Royal is very similar to the original, although the two players are now on the top and bottom sides of the screen instead of the left and right. The graphics are obviously better than the original, as is the case with most games, but your attention will be primarily on the action instead of the pretty colors. The game looks as good as any 2D game will get, so don’t expect it to be on par with, say, Uncharted 2 or Gears of War (and if you’re on this website, you wouldn’t be looking for those anyway!). The music is fairly good, ranging from upbeat techno-jingles to classic Atari-like beeps, and it really puts you in the mood for some classic moonlight gaming.
The game also harkens back to another classic game, Arkanoid, because you get weapons such as missiles and lasers to destroy your opponent, further upping the challenge in this addicting sequel. The one major fault in the game is the controls, which really depends on your mouse and keyboard. Overall, a fantastic game that will have you fondly remembering the days when gaming was at its highest, and not when the ‘quality’ of games was determined by their graphics, but by their gameplay, as it should be. And if a game is not judged by its game-play, then it is in fact not a game at all.
Pong: Battle Royal exceeds the expectations for classic gaming, tests your reflexes for that innate ‘gamer-twitch’ that so many have undoubtedly lost in recent years, and gives you and your friends hours of close calls and high-five/punch-in-the-jaw moments that few can replicate. My first few plays of the game gave me mixed decisions, but I soon realized that my inability to dominate my opponent wasn’t from bad controls or harshness of the AI, but from my forgetfulness.
I forgot the most important rule of gaming: practice makes perfect. To excel at the higher difficulty levels, you really have to work your way up. But once you get there, victory is so much sweeter because you realize you’ve just conquered a classic.
