What do you get when you combine Pong and Breakout, and have 4 players? The answer is this game! There are 4 players (you and 3 computer players) who try to get as many points as possible and try to survive. When the ball hits a block, the credit is given to the paddle that is the same color as the ball. Try not to let the ball hit the wall behind your paddle, otherwise you lose one unit of shield energy. Lots of powerups and 10 levels with plenty of variety should keep you entertained.
If you like Pong and/or Breakout, get this game!
Reviewer: amanning25 This game in particular is so simple, you have your paddles, a ball and a block in the middle. The idea is to hit the block and get the points and bonus blocks without being struck out. Of course as the levels go up the challenges get harder, different blocks, bonuses and speed and of course the winner is the last one left alive. What stands between you and the win is three pesky computer plays, their job is to beat you and your job is to knock each of them out by any means possible. Every time you hit the ball it changes into the color of your paddle, and then each time a block is destroyed when it’s the same color the points are yours. If the ball goes past the paddle a shield point is taken away, you start each time with three points.
This kind of game in its simplest form does not exist anymore, but the memories do...
Reviewer: walknastie This game is a classic! It’s pretty simple, but not the simplest game ever made. It follows the basic premise of the old pong game for Atari, but with a bit more going on than that.
First I'll set up what the game looks like. There is a square enclosure, with four walls, and each wall has its own colored paddle. You will control one of the four paddles, and compete against the other paddles. In the middle of the square enclosure is a cluster of bricks that must be cleared in order to move on.
The idea of the game is to deflect these colored balls that are coming at your wall. You control a paddle, that you need to protect your wall with, and you must do your best to deflect the ball coming at your wall with the paddle. The four players in this game (which have always been played by the computer for me), are all in competition with each other. When the ball approaches your wall, you want to deflect it so that it hits one of the bricks in the middle. After you deflect the ball with your paddle, the ball will be the color of your paddle (hopefully), and if you are able to hit a brick with your paddle, you will gain some points! Some of the bricks will give you bonuses, and some of the bricks will give you the opposite of a bonus, so it’s important that you aim AWAY from the bad bricks!
Also you will have 3 "shields" with your paddle. These are pretty much like the lives that you have in any other game. If the ball hits your wall before you are able to deflect it with your paddle, you will lose one of your shields. Since you have a total of three shields, you will have the opportunity to lose a couple of guys before you will be unable to go on. Once you lose all of your shields, your paddle will become broken if it gets hit on your side. In order to cure this, you will need to complete a catch.
So that’s the basic premise of the game. And here’s my opinion:
It’s a lot of fun. It’s obviously very primitive and very basic, but that doesn't mean that it’s not entertaining. I like to pass hours of boring class with this game by playing it on my laptop. Someday I hope to play it at work as well. But overall, if your looking for a simple game that is a lot of fun and give you just enough competition to 'get into it' and you have some time to pass like I do, I recommend this game!
