Textris seems to be 'yet another tetris clone', but that's not true. You don't need to drop blocks in order to get lines, no, you have to make words with the letter on the block that falls down. There are some strange words which I haven't heard or seen yet, but the game might still be nice to play for a while.

The graphics aren't very great and there are just some standard colors.
The gameplay is a bit better. Try this game if you always loose scrabble games or if you have some problems with spelling. The authors of the game say this game helps, but I doubt it.

Tetris was originally made in the mid 90s created by Charon Software, a mass release was scheduled for the game but other projects were considered greater priorities and the game was unfinished. But the game was recently completed. Textris is a combination of Tetris and scrabble it challenges you in your English ability and your ability to do puzzles. The purpose of the game is to make words from bricks that fall from the top of the screen and pass through levels to beat the game. Words are given point values for length and the general difficulty of the words. Different letters have different values also like a z would be a nine and a t would be a 1 or a 2 just like in scrabble. Using arrow keys you move bricks left to right, speed them up, or drop them down to the bottom use these directions to put the bricks in word forming positions before they touch the bottom.
In Textris there are three modes of play and many special bricks you can use. Some of these game modes include normal mode, word mode, and point’s mode. Word and points mode contain over 25 levels and are actually pretty fun. In normal made for example, you must create words worth enough to make the counter reach zero to advance to the next level. These were by far my favourite part of the game. This game both increases your vocabulary but it also provides hours of enjoyment. Special bricks include space, block, universal, and tons more. Space block allows you to make 2 word phrases, block blocks you from finishing a word and universal can be any letter you want. After these modes you’ll go back over and over to see if you can get farther in the game. The scoreboard also allows you to set personal records and try to beat them. The scoreboard holds data for longest word, highest point word, amount of words, total points, and level reached, it also allows you to look at a separate scoreboard for each mode played this also makes the game more and more exciting every time.
Unlike Tetris though, you only have to more the bricks in directions instead of rotating. Words must be from three to five letters long and also have to be spelled right. One thing that makes the game much easier is that you can make words vertically or horizontally but not diagonally. This allows for some freedom when dropping useless bricks. Keep in mind when the universal block is dropped you must choose a letter before it touches the bottom or one will be chosen for you. Over all this is a pretty good game. If I were to rate it I would give it a 6.5 witch isn’t terribly bad on my steep scale. But I do recommend that anyone who enjoyed Tetris.
