Wow, yet another clone of the arcade classic of the same name, originally from Taito. As in other Space Invaders games, you control a ground turret, shoot the incoming aliens one by one until they are all dead. You have 4 bunkers to help shield yourself from alien firepower. This game does well in exercising the old formula that made the original an arcade hit.

Space Invaders was one of the first video games to ever be recognised by the public. The very first game was Pong, in which a ball is bounced between two opposing players who control a 'paddle' which is used to deflect the ball. There were a few other games in a similar style to Pong, but Space Invaders was the first real shooting game. All shooting games today like the hugely successful Halo series (comprising of Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3) can be said to be derived from the classic arcade game Space Invaders.
In Space Invaders, the player controls a ship, which can move freely either left or right at the bottom of the screen. Just above the ship there are blocks which act as shields and above them, the space invaders themselves. The goal is to defeat all space invaders in each level, without losing all of your lives. The space invaders gradually get closer to the player and as they do, the music (comprised of about 4 notes and repeated continuously) gets faster, increasing the tension and making the player more determined to win as quickly as possible. To try to kill the player, the space invaders constantly shoot down to the bottom of the screen, where the ship is situated. If one of their shots hits one of the shields, a small section of that shield disappears, making it harder for the player's ship to hide. Eventually, the shield will be gone entirely, and the player will have to concentrate harder to avoid the enemy fire. Every so often, a U F O will appear at the top of the screen moving to the other side. If the player's ship shoots this U F O before it moves off the screen, they will get a huge point bonus and maybe, if their points reach a certain number, they will get an extra life, which really helps as the game progresses and the difficulty increases.
This classic arcade game is enough to keep anyone entertained for a very long time, as its replayability value is good, as you are constantly trying to beat your personal high score. Its even more fun competing with a friend.
Overall, Space Invaders, although being over 30 years old, is one of the best games out there and will be for many years to come. Download it, and you'll see what I mean!
