Tubes is a puzzle game. It's not really a lot of fun to play, but it might still be nice to play for 15 minutes or so.

When the game starts you'll see an intro of a crazy professor who lost some stuff. You have to earn this back by completing a couple of puzzles. Moleculs will go through the small tubes. You have to catch these moleculs with another tube.
When you caught one, you have to drop it into the box under your tube by pressing ALT.

Tubes starts off with an introduction to scientist Lanny B. Brilliant. He has just discovered a number of new elements that he plans to show to the Nobel Prize committee. However, he didn't count on his new finds being highly unstable, and now finds himself forced to recollect his discoveries in his race for the prize. This is where you come in.
While at first glance Tubes appears to be simply another match-three game, there are enough elements (no pun intended) to the game to keep it interesting. The basic gameplay is simple, keep matching elements by color until you either fill up the beaker below with unmatchable elements or you run out of drops (when you fail to catch an element with the test tube). There are two play modes: Endurance and Wave Mode, with three skill levels each. The skill levels determine details like how many "drops" you receive at the start of the game, the speed of the elements, and so on. Endurance Mode is as it says on the tin: You keep making element matches until you either run out of drops or fill the beaker. In Wave Mode, each wave has a specific objective that you have to accomplish before moving to the next. Your Drop total is carried over to the next wave, so it pays to learn to conserve those Drops! As you play, you'll encounter other "elements" that may help or hinder you, such as elements that refuse to combine and merely take up space in your beaker, elements that fill your test tube with other elements, or a "wild card" that can match with any of the colors.
Graphic- wise, it's very typical for a game of its time. The graphics are much simpler than a comparable game made today, but the backgrounds used during the game are gorgeous fractal designs that I wouldn't mind using for Windows wallpaper. Unless you're a real fan of this sort of game, it can get tedious to play for longer than a couple hours on Endurance Mode, and the Shareware version has a limited number of Waves in Wave Mode, though you do have the opportunity to preview the first few waves of the "registered" version, which also introduce new elements such as the Bonus element.
Overall, if you're looking for a game to waste a few hours on, this might be the right game for you. If you're looking for a game that provides tons of entertainment, you might want to skip this one.
