Wolfenstein 3D is a violent game, but it's another great game by Apogee. You are William J. "B.J." Blazkowicz. This guy is an allies spy. It's your mission to find the plans for Operation Eisenfaust, a blueprint for a perfect amry, in Castle Hollehammer. Deep in the castle Dr. Schabbs has a technique to create a perfect army from the bodies of dead people.
At least, that's what the people say. You have to go into the castle to find out what's true and what isn't, and to get these plans to save your own Allied army.

A lot of people played this game, and they still play it. It's very popular, maybe because of the excellent gameplay, good graphics and sounds. This game is really worth the download if you like with a action in it.

Wolfenstein 3D is the game that blew open the door to First Person Shooters. Before we had Quake, or Unreal, or even Doom, we had Wolfenstein, and we loved every minute of it. It was produced by ID Software, and along with Commander Keen, put them on the map as a game development company. ID software also created the "Quake" series, but that was to follow several years later.
There were 6 Episodes to the original Wolfenstein, each with 10 levels. The first was available as freeware, and grew to be quite popular. The rest were unlocked by purchasing the game. The game also had many ports, and was put on many systems, such as SNES, Atari Jaguar, Mac OS, 3DO, and even was put on the GBA. It was also followed up shortly by a prequel, called "Spear of Destiny"
In the game, you are William “BJ” Blazkowitz, an American trying to escape from the Nazi's. The game caused an uproar, since it was not only a very violent game for the time, but it had swastika's, and even had the anthem of the Nazi party, Horst-Wessel-Lied as theme music, not to mention pictures of Hitler pasted all over the walls. You encounter several types of enemies, ranging from Dogs, to Soldiers, generals, and in one of the episodes, you even fight Adolph Hitler in a Robot Suit, while finding upgrades to your weapons, getting shotguns, and chain guns to help you destroy your enemies. Every episode had a secret level too, which was found by exploring the secret passages in the levels. One episode's secret level was even a “Pac-Man” replica, complete with ghosts that chase you around the level, and treasure to collect instead of pellets. Every level had many secret passages, leading to anything ranging from gold treasure, to med-kits, extra lives, and upgrades weapons.
Overall, it was a great game for its time. Older players will have it bring back memories, while younger players will have a glimpse at gaming history, before all the fancy 3D graphic engines we enjoy today. If you want to play a classic FPS, this is the way to go. I highly recommend it, if you're alright with a game without flashy graphics. I give Wolfenstein an 8/10 score. It really was ahead of its time, and defiantly a game worth playing.
