Warcraft is one of the best Strategy DOSgames. This is thefirst game: Warcraft 1: Orcs and Humans. The way of playing this game is very simple. Build buildings so you can train soldiers, and let the soldiers discover the map. They will find enemies all over the map. You have to kill this enemies to proceed to the next scenario of this game.
The graphics are very good, the gameplay too.
The gameplay is like Command and Conquer's Red Alert: simple, but very clever.
Reviewer: Dos-Games-Online WarCraft 1 is one of the first RTS (Real Time Strategy) out. I have played warcraft 1, 2 and 3 and I have no complaints, when I first played Warcraft 1 back in 1999 or so it was easy to learn and fun to play. And as I learned, the computer got harder and more challenging to defeat, if you have played warcraft 2 or 3 you might want to try this one out. The only real difference between it and the newer versions is in the picture and sound quality. The story line is easy to get caught up in, and even today I find it entertaining. It is about Orcish invaders and humans fighting for their live. An epic story, with a vary unique game play. And multiple missions ranging from head to head build you army and destroy your enemy, to leading small squads to rescue allies or captured comrades. With different missions for each race and a unique story line this game is one of my favourites for it's time and even today I keep it on my hard drive and enjoy doing a few quick missions from time to time.
In the missions you usually start off with a small number of units and buildings. You have to use Peasants to mine gold and harvest wood in order to construct new buildings and manufacture new weapons and units for your army or food for you people. And as you progress in the game new units will be unlocked like warships for you navy, and catapult among others. It will start off easy enough to learn even for the more novices of the RTS players and steadily progress as you better your skills just enough to test your skills. You will have to destroy all the enemy buildings and units in order to win most of the missions with some exceptions on a few missions. Most of the units are pretty much the same although there are differences in some. Which is my you will need different tactics for either side which is a plus to me. Battles can range from fighting to secure a continent to huge naval battles as you try to take back an island. Strategy is as important as the speed you implement your skills. And it makes this game not only fun to play but real challenge as well. And it has multiplayer as well with modem to modem or direct connect, making this an excellent game to add to a collection.
