Settlers is a well-known strategy game. The producers made Settlers II now and I like the games myself very much. You have to control the lives and civilization of a colony. As long as you treat your colony right and you don't send them into war they will be nice for you too. They will conquest more territory for you then.

The Settlers also known as The Serf City: Life is feudal is a role playing game that will have you managing the affairs of one whole colony. Your goal is to settle in a land and then take over as much land as possible from your opponents. You need to keep your army strong so that you can have a very large settlement. Aside from keeping a strong army you must generally have a strong colony with a good mix of workers. The skills of the people in your colony will determine how big and how strong your colony will become. You will need lumberjacks to cut trees and make lumber that will be used to build the structures in the colony. You also need stone masons.
At the start of the game you will have very limited inventory. You will need to mine gold. You will also need to build a foundry to turn the gold into coins. To run the foundry you will need a coal mine so that you have a fuel for the foundry. Your colony also needs to produce food through farms or through fishing.
You need to create a strategy so that you have a colony that is working seamlessly. All the aspects in the colony are inter-related and for one aspect to work well, the other parts of the colony must be working well. It’s really a lot like real life. This is also the reason why the game takes a lot of time. Building things takes a lot of time. Sometimes you will get frustrated when an infrastructure you badly need takes time to get finished because all the other things you are working on will become affected. But I consider this all part of the game so I don’t really mind. But I imagine how some players would get irritated by this fact. This is why it’s important to develop a good strategy so that you can have the whole colony working seamlessly.
The graphics and the sounds are great. Definitely good for the time the game was released. The animation is also good. The combat mechanics is simple so those who want more challenging battles will probably find this game boring. Overall the game is good enough to download but I doubt it will land on your favorite games list. It’s good enough for days when you have nothing better to play.
