The graphics are quite nice compared to other Pong games. The tennis ball really spices up the graphics! The gameplay manages to stick with the simple formula that made the original Pong a success. A wonderful addition to the large selection of Pong clones. If you've played lots of Pong clones, try this one to make your experience complete. If you've never played Pong before, this is a nice place to start.
Reviewer: enreq While nothing special can really be expected from a Pong game, due to simple play and graphics, Pong! is a classic game, perfect for anyone who wants to take a nostalgia trip. It's not exactly the most exciting game, but what it lacks in gameplay, it makes up for in simplicity. No hard rules or strange and awkward button combinations, just Pong. Anyone of any age, race, gender, sexuality, or species (ok, maybe that's pushing it a little bit) will find it simple, and yet challenging to both perception and reflexes.
The look and feel has been slightly updated since the original, classic, black and white ball and paddles combo, and now has a bright, lime green tennis ball bouncing back and forth around your screen, ricocheting off of bright yellow, bracket looking rackets. And for a clone, the user interface is very good. Normally, one would expect a cheap, useless, unplayable imitation, with jerky controls that don't take the player into account, but a nice, smooth, pleasant game experience is all that awaits you in this amazing game.
It's a simple formula that goes into Pong, but an amazingly large amount of fine tuning and precision can go into even the simplest game, just like this. If the ball moves too fast, the game gets hard to play, and the user will give up in frustration. Too slow, and gameplay is too easy, and gets boring, and not only that, but it can be downright monotonous. The paddle speed also comes into play. If the paddle is too sluggish, the player may find that he or she would be much more entertained if they were playing a different game. But too fast, and you can't even get the paddle into the right position because your reflexes are too slow. But Pong! transcends these simple, easy to make flaws in game play, and maximizes the players' enjoyment of the game.
In closing, Pong! is a simple, yet undeniably classic game with the perfect mix between fun and basic play. The controls haven't significantly changed since Pong, and this tried and true game will keep users playing and playing and playing and playing until they either pass out from exhaustion, or die in their seats from the pure, simple greatness of this game.
