Settlers of Catan seems to be a classic game, but it isn't. The game has been introduced a couple of years ago and became popular very fast. The intention of the game is to build cities on a strategically place. This will give you raw materials which you can trade with other players. The person who has the monopoly on a raw material will win the game.
The graphics of this game are very nice. Settlers of Catan has been made in 1998 so you can expect good graphics. The gameplay is very good, so playing this game will give you a lot of fun, and even more fun if you played the board game before.

Settlers of Catan is one of the best board games I have ever played. It is a strategy game in which you try to get more points then your opponents(the game is either three player or four player) before the end of all of the turns. You earn points by building settlements and cities, completing roads, and building armies.
The key to this game is the resource cards. There are five resources: wood, wool, brick, iron, and wheat, and you need all 5 in different numbers throughout the game. What resources you get depends on where you build your settlements and cities. One of the principle ideas behind the game is trading your resource cards for other player’s resource cards, with a bit of patience you can often rob your opponents who are desperate to build that one last road. With your resource cards you build roads, cities, towns, and you can buy development cards. Development cards are the x factor of the game. With development cards you can build soldiers to steal cards from other players, you can get free resources, and you can build buildings that will give you points. The key to winning is to be able to adapt your strategy to play the different phases (beginning, middle, and end) of the game. Settlers of Catan takes a couple of times to play to get the hang of the game, but the real game is an excellent board game.
Unfortunately, the computer version of Settlers of Catan isn’t quite as good. The graphics aren’t great, although it is a board so they don’t have to be. I don’t remember what the sound was like, although once again Settlers is a board game so the sound isn’t very crucial anyway. There also isn’t a whole lot of action, you really just stare at the screen and click every turn or so. The computer AI isn’t the best and generally does the same thing every time, so after you catch the learning curve you will lose interest fairly easily. Also, the instructions in the game are lacking so it might be necessary to find some better ones online. All in all this is a good game to play if you’re bored and have a free hour or so, but it’s hard to play much more then that. I have heard there is modern version of Settlers of Catan that you can play online that is excellent, but it’s a pity that this version isn’t better then it is.
